Don't forget though that for SEO purposes - PR is all about attracting a quality link back to your site! More than likely it's going to be a URL based hyperlink such as www.rock-n-roll-seo.blogspot.com, but never the less, these links still count in Page Rank terms.
I just wanted to jot down some quick ideas on online PR that I can refer back to later - here goes:
1 - PR is about QUALITY not quantity - meaning that bobbins, mass distributed sorry attempts at PR writing and distribution will probably lead to crap return on time and investment.
2 - PR Distribution - The world's going mad for PR distribution sites, but realistically, how many quality journalists are going to use those nose bag sites - best just pick the best few sites and stick to em:
- PR.com (suggested by Jenny Mattern at nakedpr.com)
- Sourcewire.com (paid)
- Private Distribution Lists (don't be lazy - build it yourself - it's not difficult)
- Jennifer Mattern's Big List of PR Distribution Sites
- RSS feeds & submissions
Something else to consider: How many of those spammy sites that take PRs from those distribution sites are going to credit your website with a link?
3 - Types of Press Release - So like the legendary Mr Branson we're now looking for as many PR opportunities as possible:
- Research Based Articles
- Company News
- Industry Comment (appoint internal spokespersons to comment on industry news)
4 - Journalists are now touting themselves in SEO - I'm now receiving CV's from trained journalists claiming to be experienced SEO's. A natural progression perhaps?
I'm sure I'll add to this,I'll be doing more and more PR over the coming months so I'm sure I'll learn a lot more.
